Shamella Joy

Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern

As a therapist and group leader, Shamella specializes in providing support to clients who are working on healing from issues such as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxiety, depression, identity exploration, ADD/ADHD and childhood trauma. Shamella Joy’s mission is to help guide her clients through the parenthood process and to make it less daunting, and more rewarding. She enjoys helping new and expecting parents through the challenges and uncertainties of fertility, loss, postpartum, and parenthood. Shamella’s journey has left an impact and desire to win.

From dealing with abuse and assault at an early age to persevering through the fertility process and now motherhood, Shamella’s experience with trauma in silence and then having to find her own voice has fueled her purpose that no one else should feel like they have to make the journey by themselves. Shamella is here to help you carry the weight, break barriers and achieve the life you have imagined for yourself.

One of her major gifts is the ability to foster a safe and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients can explore their emotions, develop coping strategies, and embark on a journey toward healing and personal growth. Shamella takes an “out of the box,” customized approach to her clients. What works for you is what is important to Shamella. She will help you succeed depending on your abilities and assist you in realizing meaningful changes that are sustainable, whatever that looks like for you. Shamella’s goal is to tear down barriers to mental health care, promote healing and empowerment, and foster resilience within the BIPOC community. Her work is essential in creating a more inclusive and supportive mental health landscape for all individuals.
